Get Certified to Teach Ohio CCW Classes

The USCCA Home Defense and Concealed Carry Fundamentals

USCCA CCW CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

Want to be an instructor to teach the Ohio CCW license? Or do you love guns and enjoy helping others learn how to shoot safely and effectively? Then you’re ready to become a USCCA CCW Certified Instructor. This will allow you to start teaching the USCCA’s firearm courses and maybe even the Ohio CCW training.

As a Certified USCCA CCW Instructor not only do you get paid to teach, but you also get many other benefits.

  • Modern training materials including a PowerPoint presentation with multi-media components.
  • Personalized support from the USCCA Staff trainers.
  • Discounts on guns and gear
  • Earn money while teaching your passion
  • Tax savings by writing off your business’s guns, gear, and training
  • Teach the Ohio CCW training requirement

Now is the perfect time to start or expand your concealed carry (CCW) training business.

You’ll have to ask your local Sheriff if they will honor the USCCA Instructor Certification for teaching the Ohio concealed carry. Many sheriffs will honor it but you’ll have to check with your local Sheriff’s offices.

Many USCCA instructors are also NRA Certified Pistol instructors since all Ohio Sheriffs recognize the NRA Instructor credentials. Click here for details on the NRA Pistol Instructor Certification.

This instructor level training is completed in one day. Please see all the details below. You do not have to have a concealed carry license to become an instructor. If you want to take the Ohio CCW training, click here.

Step 2: At the USCCA CCW Instructor Training

The USCCA CCW Instructor training is a combination of lessons and role-playing. We’ll go through the instructor’s requirements and you’ll get a chance to practice your teaching skills.
The major pass/fail for this course is going to be your attitude. Only CCW instructor candidates that prove that they will represent the USCCA in an appropriate manner will be able to become certified. If you come with an open mind and a positive attitude, then you’ll do great.

Test and Shooting Qualification:
a. There is an open book/notes test that you need to pass to become certified. All material is covered in the course and can easily be referenced in your notes or course information.
b. The USCCA CCW Instructor shooting qualification is listed here so be sure to PRACTICE! The basic guideline is that if you can’t complete it before the course. Then don’t plan to be able to complete it at the instructor training. We’re here to help. But remember that this is an instructor level course, not a beginner’s class.

Step 3: Get Ready to Teach CCW Classes! The USCCA and I Are Here For You!

After the course, I’ll send your passing qualification to the USCCA.
It takes the USCCA about two-weeks to finalize your credentials. They will send you the welcome information and create your login on the USCCA Instructor Portal.
At this point, you’ll have full access to the training material and you’re ready to teach!

Armed2Defend and the USCCA are here to help. As an instructor, please don’t hesitate to contact with questions. We all want you to be the best firearms instructor that you can be.

Get Prepared and Start Teaching!

Rest assured that you have support after the training through Kevin Sadeski who has trained over 19,000 for Ohio CCW license and over 500 NRA Instructors! Many of these instructors are actively teaching CCW classes.

Course Details

Prerequisite:

Before you can take the USCCA CCW instructor training, you need to order the USCCA eLearning & Instructor Toolkit. Simply give the USCCA Team a call at 877-577-4800 to secure your eLearning Training and Instructor Toolkit. This is a one-time cost of $250.

Please note that the instructor level training requires the ability to plan ahead and to be ready for the training and prerequisites. If you have questions, please ask, but you must be familiar with the expectations before the training. If you can’t be prepared for the instructor training. Then the expectation is that you won’t be able to properly prepare to teach a CCW class after you get certified.

Course Fee:

$347 for the USCCA CCW Instructor training class. This course fee amount is required by the USCCA and cannot be changed.

Total Cost:

$347 Class fee + $250 USCCA CCW Instructor Toolkit and eLearning (order through the USCCA) = $597

Course Location:

Please see each date for the location. Typically our classes are within 20 minutes of downtown Columbus Ohio. The classroom portion is located at the historic Wagnalls Memorial Library in Lithopolis Ohio. Our private covered shooting range is 4 minutes away in Canal Winchester Ohio.

Course Length:

The USCCA CCW Instructor Training can be accomplished in one long day. It is scheduled to go from 8 am to around 8 pm. But the actual ending time is based on the instructor candidates’ performance. You can view the class schedule here.

Number of Participants:

The USCCA requires that there are at least 2 CCW Instructor Candidates in the training. Each Training Counselor can train up to 12 USCCA CCW Instructor Candidates each.

Food and Drinks:

You will not be able to leave the class to go out for lunch/dinner. Please either pack you own lunch/drinks/snacks or plan to purchase in class. Typically there is an option to purchase food and drinks at the training. More details will be sent after you register and as the class day gets closer. We don’t mind if you are eating/drinking during class. (We may have a microwave and fridge. Ask to be sure.)

Gun, Ammo, & Safety Equipment:

You are responsible for supplying the pistol and ammunition for the training and qualification. For this course and qualification, you must shoot a 9 mm or 38 special or higher caliber. No AR style pistols will be allowed. We recommend that you bring 200 rounds of ammo for the instructor training and qualification. We can supply the range safety equipment for you to borrow if needed. We require side shields on glasses.

Your range gun must be unloaded and in a closed bag, box or case until you’re instructed to remove it. Please have all magazines also unloaded. You’ll load them as instructed during the training. Please leave your firearm locked in your car during the classroom portion. If you aren’t sure, please ask.

Qualification Target:

The required USCCA CCW Instructor shooting qualification is not timed but it is scored based on hits within the 6.75 inch circle of the USCCA Target. You can read more about the qualification here. Shooting distances range from 4 yards to 15 yards. You have to score 40/50 shots to qualify. You will have two attempts to qualify.

You must also adhere to the USCCA’s 4 Universal safety rules and follow the instructor’s commands to pass. USCCA CCW Instructor candidates can fail this qualification.

Recommended Hotel Options

(There are some inexpensive options off Interstate 70 on Scarborough Blvd and Brice Rd (~$45-$70). Even so, we would not recommend staying in that area.)

**TOP CHOICE**

Carraway Guest House

156 Washington St, Canal Winchester, OH 43110

6 min to classroom  Approx $79/night

Closest option by far. In quaint downtown Canal Winchester.

Friendly owners. Great reviews.

Unfortunately it is frequently booked up.

Best Western Canal Winchester Inn

6323 Prentiss School Place, Canal Winchester, OH 43110

9 min to classroom
Approx $139/night

Second closest option. Close to several restaurants & fast food options.

Arguably overpriced.

WoodSpring Suites Columbus Southeast

4105 Hamilton Square Blvd, Groveport, OH 43125

16 min to classroom
Approx $80/night

Reasonably close. Conveniently right off highway, one exit away from Canal Winchester.

Close to a few fast food options and a Giant Eagle.

Holiday Inn Express Southeast Columbus

4041 Hamilton Square Blvd, Columbus, OH 43125

16 min to classroom
Approx $150/night

Located right next to the previous option (WoodSpring) but much more expensive.

At this price point, the much closer Best Western would make more sense.

Baymont by Wyndham Columbus/ Rickenbacker

2323 Rickenbacker Pkwy W, Columbus, OH  43217

16 min to classroom
Approx $80/night

Inexpensive. Looks nice. Right across from the Rickenbacker Military Base.

Surrounded by warehouses. No close fast food or grocery store options.

The class was great. The material was taught in a manner that was very easy to understand no matter your level of knowledge on guns or the laws surrounding them was. Jamie was my instructor at the range and he was beyond GREAT! He helped me become very comfortable with shooting and my gun in our time at the range. If I ever had to take the class again I’d come back. For now I’m just giving the class away as Christmas gift.

Took this class several years ago and it was the best decision I’ve made! Everything about it was awesome and I regularly recommended it to anyone I can.

We are family owned and operated.

You’ll quickly see that our business is more than a business to us. We have a passion to provide meaningful training. It is that passion that fuels us!

I took a class to become a concealed carrier in January 2010 (before we started Armed2Defend). My instructor was there to collect my payment and check off some boxes. He didn’t care if I learned anything. It was a paycheck to him and in his eyes the class was just a hoop for me to jump through. Ten months later Armed2Defend was born with the vision of providing excellent training at an affordable price.

Our instructors are amazing. They will make sure you learn the knowledge, skills and attitude that set the foundation for being a responsibly armed citizen! And you’ll feel like part of the Armed2Defend family during the process.

I hope to meet you in a class soon,

Alisha Sadeski
