House Passes National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act!

Today the US House voted 231-198 to pass the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. This is a monumental win for concealed carriers throughout the nation.

What changes does this bill make?

  1. Allows license concealed carriers to carry in any state (expands the protection zone).
  2. Adds incentives to states and government agencies to update the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) with legitimate records of prohibited persons (keeps bad people from passing background checks).
  3. Expedites the process for removing records that are erroneously put in the NICS (errors in the system must be fixed quicker to allow good people to be able to buy guns).

These changes work to fix a broken system. But there is still an uphill battle ahead to get these changes into law. If we continue to contact our legislators, then we’ll be able push it through the finish line!
